Event: Second International Conference on Water Resources and Environmental Management (ICWRE 2013) [viewed]

This conference will convene around the theme “Water, Food, Energy Security and Climate Change,” and discussions will be organized around sub-themes including: water for sustainable future; global water security; water supply and sanitation; integrated water resources management (IWRM); and environment, water and health. The conference is being organized by Global Institute for Water, Environment, and Health (GIWEH), based in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Mohamadia School for Engineers, Rabat, Morocco, in partnership with UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education. It is convening in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), among others.

UN-REDD Approves a $47.6 Million Budget for 2013-2014 [viewed]

Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles Programme to Reduce Sulphur Levels and Diesel Emissions [viewed]

26 October 2012: The Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV) will initiate a new programme to reduce sulphur levels in fuel and tackle diesel emissions, and agreed to complete a lead phase-out campaign. The new programme and lead phase-out agreement was considered at a meeting of the PCFV, which was held from 23-24 November 2012, organized by the FIA Foundation.

UNEP, China Launch Efficient Lighting Centre [viewed]

UNEP31 October 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced the opening of the Global Efficient Lighting Centre (GELC) in Beijing, China. The GELC is designed to support the rapid deployment of energy-efficient technologies in developing and emerging countries, and is a joint initiative of UNEP and the Chinese National Lighting Test Centre.
