Event: Second International Conference on Water Resources and Environmental Management (ICWRE 2013) [viewed]
This conference will convene around the theme “Water, Food, Energy Security and Climate Change,” and discussions will be organized around sub-themes including: water for sustainable future; global water security; water supply and sanitation; integrated water resources management (IWRM); and environment, water and health. The conference is being organized by Global Institute for Water, Environment, and Health (GIWEH), based in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Mohamadia School for Engineers, Rabat, Morocco, in partnership with UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education. It is convening in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), among others.
2 November 2012: At its 9th Policy Board meeting, the UN Collaborative Programme on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (UN-REDD) approved US$ 47.6 million in funding over two years for global and national actions.
26 October 2012: The Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV) will initiate a new programme to reduce sulphur levels in fuel and tackle diesel emissions, and agreed to complete a lead phase-out campaign. The new programme and lead phase-out agreement was considered at a meeting of the PCFV, which was held from 23-24 November 2012, organized by the FIA Foundation.
October 2012: The UN Development Programme (UNDP)-UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Poverty-Environment Initiative (PEI) has published the October issue of its quarterly newsletter. The newsletter includes sections describing global and regional programme activities.
31 October 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced the opening of the Global Efficient Lighting Centre (GELC) in Beijing, China. The GELC is designed to support the rapid deployment of energy-efficient technologies in developing and emerging countries, and is a joint initiative of UNEP and the Chinese National Lighting Test Centre.
27 October 2012: The 9th Policy Board of the UN Collaborative Programme on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (UN-REDD) considered reports on progress on the implementation of national programmes, as well as global programme activities.
30 September 2012: The Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) and the UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Risoe Centre organized a regional workshop for the Caribbean intended to enhance capacity and examine lessons learned regarding the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Programme of Activities (PoA) and Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). 
September 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Commission have released the latest issue of the newsletter on the Multilateral Environment Agreements in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP MEAs) Project. The newsletter features a guest article by Mette Annelie Rasmussen and Miriam Hinostroza, UNEP Risø Centre, outlining efforts to “level the playing field” for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and carbon finance.
24 October 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report on the discussions undertaken between the Secretariat and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) regarding key elements of the potential host agreement for the Climate Technology Centre (CTC) (FCCC/SBI/2012/30).
