Chinese Government and UNEP Report Highlights China's Energy Consumption Achievements [viewed]

UNEP26 November 2013: Together with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the Government of China has released a report on China's green investments, titled "China's Green Long March: A Study of Renewable Energy, Environmental Industry and Cement Sectors." The report finds that, despite rapid advancement towards a green economy, significant environmental and social challenges must be surmounted if China is to achieve its sustainable development goals.

Norway Announces $40 Million for UN-REDD [viewed]

CTCN Opens in Denmark [viewed]

ctcn21 November 2013: The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), co-led by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Risø Centre and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), opened in Copenhagen, Denmark. The CTCN will assist developing countries in making informed decisions about environmentally sound technologies for adaptation and mitigation, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improving climate resilience.

UNEP's 'Africa Adaptation Gap' Report Estimates Costs in Face of 'Emissions Gap' [viewed]

UNEP19 November 2013: A report released by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) reviews the financial and environmental costs that Africa will face if governments fail to close the ‘emissions gap' needed to keep warming below 2°C. The report, titled 'Africa's Adaptation Gap: Technical Report,' confirms the assessment of the World Bank's November 2012 report,  titled 'Turn Down the Heat,' that there is a 40 per cent chance global temperature will increase by 3.5-4°C if mitigation efforts are not stepped up.

Caring for Climate19 November 2013: The UN Global Compact, UNFCCC Secretariat and UN Environment Programme (UNEP) launched the ‘Caring for Climate (C4C) Business Forum: Innovation, Ambition, Collaboration' on the sidelines of the 19th Conference of the Parties (COP 19) to the UNFCCC. The Forum represents the first time the public and private sector have collaborated to create climate change commitments, plans and solutions as an official part of the COP.
