Event: Building a Global Energy Efficiency Financing Alliance [viewed]

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) are bringing together banks, leasing companies, insurance providers, development finance institutions (DFIs) and microfinance institutions for an event on 'Building a Global Energy Efficiency Financing Alliance'. Participants will share business strategies for integrating energy efficiency into investments. The event is intended to highlight the role energy efficiency plays as an economically effective means of combating climate change, especially in the lead-up to the Paris Climate Change Conference where Parties to the UNFCCC are expected to adopt a universal climate change agreement. EBRD and UNEP FI are organizing the event to encourage further investment in energy efficiency and highlight commitments to energy efficiency finance as part of the global response to climate change.

LAC Carbon Forum Calls for Including Market Approaches in Paris Agreement [viewed]

Latinamericanforum11 September 2015: The 9th Latin American and Caribbean Carbon Forum (LACCF 2015) concluded with calls for the use of market-based mechanisms and other forms of carbon pricing and climate finance to be included as mitigation and development tools in the global climate agreement expected to be adopted at the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

CCAC Working Group Reviews Draft Implementation Plan [viewed]

ccac_workingroup9 September 2015: During a meeting in Paris, France, from 8-9 September 2015, the Working Group of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC) reviewed and further elaborated on the draft Implementation Plan for the Five-Year Strategy, whose framework was endorsed by the sixth CCAC High-Level Assembly (HLA) in May 2015. The Plan, which the seventh HLA is expected to approve and launch on the margins of the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in December 2015, outlines critical actions for the period 2015 – 2020 as laid out in the CCAC's Five-Year Strategy.

UNEP DTU, CTCN Showcase Adaptation Monitoring and Evaluation Good Practices [viewed]

Event: Global Network Conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production [viewed]

This conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) will showcase 20 years of delivering RECP services to industry and identify areas of interest and potential partnership at the national, regional and global levels within the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, this conference will: explore innovative approaches to RECP through exchanging best practices and sharing success stories and replicable solutions; address such topics as low-carbon production, chemicals management, water resources, eco-industrial parks, waste management and gender mainstreaming; and provide the opportunity to chart a path forward for RECP promotion. This conference will bring together senior government officials, international RECP practitioners, representatives of development financial institutions, and cleaner production experts from research institutions and academia. The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in cooperation with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), is organizing the conference. The Conference will be held in conjunction with the World Resources Forum 2015.

The joint Programme on RECP aims to improve resource efficiency and the environmental performance of businesses and other organizations through scaling up and mainstreaming the application of RECP methods, techniques and policies.
