The report analyzes challenges to such a transition, in particular for developing countries that are endowed with abundant renewable resources, and provides suggestions to overcome them.

The inaugural Caring for Climate Business Forum – Innovation, Ambition, Collaboration – will meet from 19-20 November 2013, in Warsaw, Poland, on the sidelines of the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 19) to the UN Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). For the first time, the Global Compact, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UNFCCC Secretariat are organizing this invitation-only event, which will showcase the contributions that business and investors can make towards climate action, while providing a high-level platform for exchange and collaboration with policymakers. More specifically, the Forum aims to: bring greater scale to business innovation on climate change; further encourage business and governments to raise ambition on climate policies; and encourage collaboration among business, the UN, governments and other stakeholders. New activities, resources, commitments and public-private partnerships are expected to be announced during the Forum. In addition to plenary sessions and thematic action workshops, a high-level meeting on 20 November will convene to: discuss a compendium of climate practices, innovations, collaborations and commitments to action across key climate change themes; and put forward recommendations for government actions that would help bring greater scale and quality to corporate climate leadership globally. It is expected the Forum will become an annual event.
