It will be hosted by the Ministry of the Environment of Brazil and Government of Ceara State, with support from international organizations including the World Bank, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

ADB and Japan Fund Climate Change Institutions in Bhutan [viewed]

UN-REDD Newsletter Reflects on Copenhagen Conference [viewed]

22 January 2009: The fifth issue of the UN-REDD Programme Newsletter provides an overview of events surrounding the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference related to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD). These events included the production by the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) of a draft decision on methodological issues, which was adopted by the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15), and references to REDD being included in the Copenhagen Accord.

Event: First World Congress on Cities and Adaptation to Climate Change [viewed]

Event: Millennium Development Goals Summit [viewed]

The UN General Assembly has decided to convene, from 20-22 September 2010 in New York, a high-level plenary meeting on accelerating progress to achieve all the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015, taking into account progress made through a review of successes, best practices, lessons learned, obstacles and opportunities, leading to concrete strategies for action. Further, the UN General Assembly requested that the Assembly President organize and preside over two days of informal interactive hearings, no later than June 2010, with non-governmental organizations, civil society and the private sector, and prepare a summary to be issued prior to the high-level plenary meeting.

West African Development Bank Defines its Role in the Climate Change Regime [viewed]
