The theme of the Conference, which takes place every four to five years, is “Restoring the Commonwealth's forests: Tackling climate change.”

This workshop is convened by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), in collaboration with the UN-REDD Programme and with the financial support of the Government of Germany. Its purpose is to support the efforts of parties in addressing reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD) in the framework of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in a way that contributes to the implementation of the CBD programme of work on forest biodiversity.

This annual International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC), organized by Transparency International with the support of the Royal Thai Ministy of Justice, will focus on how global and national efforts to reduce poverty and to deliver on promises for sustainable development, human security, curbing illicit trade and climate control have not yet resulted in positive change. The UN Development Programme (UNDP) will organize a roundtable on REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in developing countries) and corruption, in partnership with GTZ. UNDP is also supporting the plenary on “Climate Governance: Ensuring a Collective Commitment” and is currently preparing a background overview paper mapping the corruption risks and anti-corruption opportunities related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
