13 August 2012: The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN‐REDD Programme) is inviting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to vote on eligible nominees to serve as CSO representatives to the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board.
15 August 2012: UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark delivered the University of Canterbury's Hopkins Lecture in Christchurch, New Zealand, in which she addressed the theme “Building Resilience: The Importance of Disaster Risk Reduction.”
9 August 2012: The Energy and Environment Programme of the UN Development Program (UNDP) has launched the “Technology Transfer and Market Development for Small Hydropower in Tajikistan” project, which aims to accelerate small-scale hydropower (SHP) generation through capacity building, supportive legal and regulatory frameworks and sustainable delivery models.
2 August 2012: The World Bank has reported on projects implemented in Viet Nam since 2006 to promote disaster risk reduction (DRR), with partners including the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and AusAID.
July 2012: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) has released a publication titled “A Dozen Innovative Renewable Energy Technologies,” which describes recent projects and focuses on successful experiences in promoting renewable energy in Nepal.
6 July 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) hosted an Inception Workshop for a US$5 million dollar Climate Change Adaptation Programme, which will be implemented from 2012-2017, with the guidance of the Pa Enua or outer island communities in the Cook Islands, targeting sectors such as the water, health, agriculture and marine resources.
1 July 2012: The Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change (PACC) project is addressing water issues in the Marshall Islands by installing water meters and improving the Airport Water Reservoir, the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has reported.
23 July 2012: In a speech delivered at the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Africa Conference in Dakar, Senegal, Helen Clark, UNDP Administrator, stressed the need for Africa's economic performance to translate into higher human development for all, particularly the poor, women and youth.
19 July 2012: The UN Collaborative Programme on REDD's (UN-REDD) July Newsletter reports on the third meeting and workshop of the REDD+ Partnership in 2012, which was held in Santa Marta, Columbia, from 1-2 July 2012.
13 July 2012: Nicaragua has inaugurated a small hydropower plant to bring electricity to 3,000 people in 533 households in eight rural communities. The plant was financed and built with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Energy and Environment Partnership for Central America (EEP) and others.
