Global Oceans Action Summit Charts a Path for Ocean Health, Blue Growth [viewed]

Indian Ocean Countries Collaborate on Climate Data Rescue [viewed]

gfcs24 April 2014: The International Workshop on the Recovery and Digitization of Climate Heritage in the Indian Ocean Rim Countries and Islands convened in recognition of the need to accelerate the recovery of the region's historical climate records. At the workshop, governments established the INdian Ocean Data REscue Initiative (INDARE), adopted a declaration and agreed to finalize an INDARE implementation plan.

The Africa Carbon Forum (ACF) will take place from 2-4 July 2014, in Windhoek, Namibia. The Forum will: inform attendees of developments in carbon markets; provide a venue for connecting carbon project developers and investors; showcase lessons from completed Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in Africa; feature presentations on public and private sector strategies for promoting CDM benefits in Africa; and encourage networking and discussions among technical experts, project developers and carbon buyers. The Forum is organized by the UNFCCC Secretariat, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UNEP Riso Centre, the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), the World Bank, and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The Forum is organized by the UNFCCC Secretariat, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UNEP Riso Centre, the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank, the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

WFP Maps Climate Vulnerabilities in Andean Region [viewed]

The 'Atlas of Food Security, Disasters and Climate Change' maps climate, food security and disaster threats that will impede the sustainable development of communities in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

UNEP, Microsoft Present First Global Biosphere Model [viewed]

microsoft-unep28 April 2014: Researchers at the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and Microsoft Research have developed the first computer model for simulating how organisms interact on a global scale. The model, named 'Madingley,' is able to provide long term predictions for the fate of ecosystems and identify risks to ecosystem services and the humans depending on them.
