UNIDO Releases Guide on Transitioning to Natural Refrigerants [viewed]

UNIDO19 November 2013: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), together with shecco, a market development company, have released a guide on the transition from ozone-depleting substances (ODS) to natural refrigerants and foam-blowing agents. Its main objective is to share experiences in the use of ammonia, carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbons, water and air, as part of the ongoing phase-out of ozone-depleting hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) under the Montreal Protocol.

Event: 3rd UNITAR-Yale Conference on Environmental Governance and Democracy [viewed]

The Third UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)-Yale Conference on Environmental Governance and Democracy will meet under the theme of 'Human Rights, Environmental Sustainability, Post-2015 Development, and the Future Climate Regime'. It will bring together more than 150 scholars and policy experts to discuss state-of-the-art knowledge regarding themes that are at the nexus of human rights and the environment, including: whether constitutional environmental rights are a driver for environmental policy-making; human rights and environmental justice cases from countries and the field; why and how procedural environmental rights matter; human rights, environment and corporate responsibility; and effective participation of civil society and vulnerable groups. The outcomes and conclusions are expected to contribute to: discussions on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a post-2015 development agenda; negotiations of a future climate change regime; the 2014 World Conference on Indigenous Peoples; and the 2015 report of the UN Independent Expert on Human Rights and the Environment (UNIEHRE). Yale and UNITAR are organizing the conference, in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Development Programme, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the UNIEHRE.
