Event: Workshop on Development of Agricultural Systems and Climate Smart Agriculture in Developing Countries [viewed]

This workshop is organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) Challenge Programe of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and other academic and international organizations. The meeting will discuss challenges and opportunities for more efficient agriculture in the long term, contributing to thinking beyond Cancun and The Hague. It will also explore synergies between adaptation, mitigation and biodiversity to respond to competing pressures on land and water from agriculture, forests and other ecosystems, growing population and urban expansion, as well as energy needs.

Event: New Directions for Smallholder Agriculture [viewed]

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is organizing an international conference on "New Directions for Smallholder Agriculture." Papers presented at the conference will focus on regional diversities and the technical, financial and institutional environments that will determine their future. Participants will discuss how smallholders will adapt to accommodate a changing global environment. Participation is by invitation.

62nd Meeting of ExCom Approves ODS Destruction Project [viewed]

23 December 2010: The 62nd meeting of the Executive Committee (ExCom) of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol convened in Montreal, Canada, from 29 November-3 December 2010. For the first time, the ExCom considered and approved a large number of HCFC phase-out management plans (HPMPs), in line with the HCFC guidelines adopted at its 60th meeting.

Adaptation Fund Board Approves Funding for Two Projects [viewed]

15 December 2010: The Adaptation Fund Board concluded its 12th session in Cancun, Mexico, back-to-back with the Cancun Climate Change Conference. Board members approved funding for projects in Nicaragua and Pakistan, and for five concepts, from the Cook Islands, Ecuador, El Salvador, Georgia and the Maldives, for financing at its next session.
