UNEP Launches 1 Gigaton Coalition for Renewables and Energy Efficiency [viewed]

UNEP10 December 2014: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), with support from the Government of Norway, launched a coalition to promote the expansion of renewable energy and energy efficiency in climate change mitigation efforts. The ‘1 Gigaton Coalition' is so named because it is believed that emission reductions from renewable energy and energy efficiency efforts could deliver annual savings of 1 gigaton of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per year by 2020.

COP 20 Gender Day Recognizes Women's Role in Climate Action [viewed]

The event recognized the necessity of including women in decision-making processes and their particular capacity to share information on resilience and adaptation to climate change.

IFAD Launches Recipes for Change Campaign [viewed]

IFAD8 December 2014: The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has launched a campaign ‘Recipes for Change' to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change on food crops and traditional recipes, particularly in developing countries, and how small-scale farmers can adapt. A series of Recipes for Change online videos will share recipes from rural communities, being prepared in the homes of rural families and using local ingredients that are threatened by climate change.
