PROVIA E-Tool Prototype Tested at COP 20 [viewed]

PROVIA5 December 2014: In 2015, the Global Programme of Research on Climate Change Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation (PROVIA) will launch an electronic tool (e-tool) to accompany its 'Guidance on Assessing Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation to Climate Change.' During the Lima Climate Change Conference, the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), which developed the Guidance and the e-tool, held consultations with potential users of the tool to garner feedback in the lead-up to its launch.

FAO Infographic Reveals Growing Agriculture and Livestock Emissions [viewed]

FAO9 December 2014: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) published a factsheet on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU), which highlights global emissions of about 10 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. These emissions are not offset by the two billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent removed from the atmosphere by forests and land, according to the infographic.

UNEP Launches 1 Gigaton Coalition for Renewables and Energy Efficiency [viewed]

UNEP10 December 2014: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), with support from the Government of Norway, launched a coalition to promote the expansion of renewable energy and energy efficiency in climate change mitigation efforts. The ‘1 Gigaton Coalition' is so named because it is believed that emission reductions from renewable energy and energy efficiency efforts could deliver annual savings of 1 gigaton of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per year by 2020.
