UNFCCC Releases SBSTA Documents for Bonn Session [viewed]

UNFCCC4 June 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a series of documents that will be discussed by the Subsidiary Body on Scientific and technical Advice (SBSTA) at its 38th session, taking place in Bonn, Germany. UNISDR, UNESCO Convene Retreat on Post-Hyogo Disaster Framework [viewed]

19 November 2012: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and the UN Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) convened a two-day UN High-Level Retreat to initiate work on a UN strategic plan for disaster risk reduction. London Convention Parties Express Concern over Ocean Fertilization [viewed]

IMO's Environment Committee Considers Energy Efficiency, Ballast Water Management and Ship Recycling [viewed]

Event: 64th Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) [viewed]

The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet for its 64th session in London, UK, from 1-5 October 2012. Among other items, the MEPC will consider: matters relating to the implementation of energy efficiency, ballast water management and ship-recycling regulations; the designation of a Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA) in the North-eastern Caribbean area of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; market-based measures to address the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs); the availability of fuel oil to meet air pollution requirements; guidelines for the recycling of ships; and sewage treatment plant guidelines.
