UNGA 68 High-level Debate Continues Discussion of Post-2015 Agenda [viewed]

Speakers again emphasized the relationship between peace and development, and proposed focusing on, inter alia, inequalities and climate change.

Event: Ninth Session of the Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters [viewed]

The ninth session of the Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters will meet, in accordance with UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) decision 2013/239, to discuss, among other things, issues related to the next update of the UN Model Double Taxation Convention between Developed and Developing Countries. The Committee will also discuss cross-cutting issues under the UN Model, such as taxation of services and interaction of the Model with climate change mechanisms. In addition, it will work towards the next update of the UN Practical Manual on Transfer Pricing for Developing Countries, foreign direct investment issues and corporate taxation, including resource taxation issues for developing countries, and capacity development. As this will be the first session of the new Membership of the Committee, the Committee will elect a Chair and other officers, and establish subcommittees.

IPCC WGI to Finalize its Contribution to AR5 [viewed]

IPCC23 September 2013: The twelfth session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group I (WGI-12) opened in Stockholm, Sweden. Over a four-day meeting, the WG is expected to finalize its findings on the physical science basis of climate change as part of the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5).

Event: 12th Session of IPCC WG III and 39th Session of IPCC [viewed]

The 12th session of Working Group III (WG III) and the 39th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 39) will convene in April 2014 to approve and accept the contribution of WG III to the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5). WG III focuses on mitigation of climate change. WG III will meet from 7-11 April, and IPCC 39 will meet on 13 April to discuss programme and budget, with a day off on 12 April.

Event: Eighth Meeting of the Open Working Group on SDGs (OWG 8) [viewed]

The eighth session of the UN General Assembly's (UNGA) Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will take place from 3-7 February 2014, in New York, US. OWG 8 is expected to discuss: Oceans and seas, forests, biodiversity (2 days); Promoting equality, including social equity, gender equality and women's empowerment (1.5 days); and Conflict prevention, post-conflict peacebuilding and the promotion of durable peace, rule of law and governance (1.5 days).
