UNFF Highlights Interlinkages Between International Arrangement on Forests, Paris Agreement [viewed]

UNFF26 February 2016: The Secretariat of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF) has published a policy brief exploring opportunities for greater coherence with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) arising from the Paris Agreement and the International Arrangement on Forests (IAF) beyond 2015. The brief focuses on forest-based climate change mitigation and adaptation measures, forest financing and the 'global stocktake' under the Paris Agreement.

Event: Farmers' Day at COP 21 [viewed]

Co-organized by the World Farmers' Organization (WFO) and the UNFCCC Secretariat, Farmers' Day will bring together participants from farming groups, researchers and civil society to discuss agriculture in light of the negotiations during the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21). Delegates convened to discuss, inter alia, progress, challenges and the way forward for the international arrangement on forests, including reviewing the effectiveness of the international arrangement on forests (IAF), the progress towards the achievement of the global objectives on forests and the contribution of forests and the IAF to the internationally agreed development goals.

Convened under the UN Forum on Forests Facilitative Process to support financing for sustainable forest management (SFM), the 'Workshop on Harnessing Climate Change Financing for Sustainable Forest Management in Southeast Asia' will consider links and opportunities for harmonization between SFM financing and REDD+. UNFF Launches Website to Support Financing for SFM [viewed]

UnffJanuary 2015: The UN Forum on Forests (UNFF) launched a website to support the ongoing Facilitative Process adopted to assist developing countries in identifying and accessing financing for sustainable forest management (SFM). The Facilitative Process is based on the tenants of a bottom-up approach that takes into account the multiple uses and values of forests as well as the range of ecosystem services they provide.
