First Global Adaptation Network Forum Disseminates Adaptation Knowledge [viewed]

global_adaptation_network7 March 2015: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and the UNFCCC Secretariat and with support from the Governments of Japan, Spain and Norway, held the first Global Adaptation Network (GAN) Forum. Participants shared their experiences in exchanging adaptation knowledge, challenges in coordinating and facilitating knowledge dissemination, and means to improve availability and accessibility of such knowledge to users.

Event: World Wide Views Day on Climate and Energy [viewed]

On 6 June 2015, hundreds of citizens reflecting the demographic diversity of their countries will attend day-long meetings to discuss climate change and energy issues, express their views and make up their minds about what they want their governments to do to ensure a sustainable future. This pubic consultation on climate change and energy is the largest ever organized and is in support of an ambitious new, universal climate change agreement to be agreed at the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UNFCCC in Paris, in December 2015. The results from the event will be ready in June and will be presented at COP 21. The project is initiated by the Danish Board of Technology Foundation, Missions Publiques, the UNFCCC Secretariat and the French National Commission for Public Debate in partnership with World Wide Views.

CDM Executive Board Approves Methodologies on Electric Vehicles [viewed]

UNFCCC16 April 2015: The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board has approved two new small-scale methodologies on using renewable energy sources to charge electric vehicles, which have been incorporated into the consolidated methodology on emission reductions by electric and hybrid vehicles. The consolidated methodology will now take into account and credit the reduced emissions from charging the vehicles with renewable energy sources.

Liechtenstein Submits INDC [viewed]

Liechtenstein flag22 April 2015: The Government of Liechtenstein has officially submitted its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC) to the UNFCCC Secretariat. In its contribution to the anticipated 2015 climate change agreement, Liechtenstein states that it will aim to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40% by 2030, using 1990 as the baseline. The INDC assumes the possibility of incorporating reductions achieved abroad. The target will be subject to parliamentary approval.

UNFCCC Proposes 2016-2017 Activities to be Funded from Supplementary Sources [viewed]

The addendum document (FCCC/SBI/2015/Add.2) is intended for consideration in conjunction with the proposed programme budget for 2016-2017 and the Secretariat's work programme (FCCC/SBI/2015/3 and Add.1).

UNFF and Partners Discuss SFM and Climate Finance in Southeast Asia [viewed]

UNFCCC's NAZCA Portal Features Over 500 City Actions [viewed]

nazca22 April 2015: To coincide with Earth Day, over 500 new city actions have been added to the Non-State Actor Zone for Climate Action (NAZCA) portal, which was launched at the UN Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru, in December 2014. NAZCA, a UNFCCC-hosted website, showcases actions of non-state actors, including municipalities, regions and investors, and aims to help build momentum for a global climate agreement in Paris in December 2015. Currently, 400 cities, 71 subnational regions and 264 companies are taking 1514 climate-related actions listed on the NAZCA portal.

NAP Expo Shares Experiences and Lessons on Adaptation Plans [viewed]

napexpo15 April 2015: Over 150 participants attended the third NAP Expo, which was organized by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) of the UNFCCC and an advisory group that included the Adaptation Committee. African Countries Prepare for Paris Climate Negotiations at Seventh Africa Carbon Forum [viewed]

Speaking on the outcomes needed for a successful Paris Climate Change Conference, Kinley told African countries gathered at the Forum that "INDCs are each country's opportunity to express their development priorities."
