Carbon Forum Asia Fosters Collaboration on Market-Based Measures [viewed]

carbon_forum_asia27 March 2015: The International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and Koelnmesse organized the inaugural Carbon Forum Asia (CFA) Workshop, bringing together actors from the entire carbon and energy market value chain to discuss trends in carbon pricing, the upcoming 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UNFCCC and developments in climate finance. The two-day CFA 2015 Workshop focused on the Asian experience in implementing market-based solutions to reducing carbon pollution.

Event: NAP Expo 2015: Realizing the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Process [viewed]

The NAP Expo 2015 will serve as a platform for: exchanging information on formulating and implementing national adaptation plans (NAPs); providing updates on national adaptation activities; sharing technical knowledge on adaptation assessments and design; learning best practices for addressing climate change vulnerabilities and risks; and connecting countries providing technical and financial support with countries in need. Participating stakeholders from least developed countries (LDCs) and non-LDC developing countries and those from supporting agencies and organizations will be able to take advantage of a variety of special events and training opportunities. The event is being organized by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) with the support of the UNFCCC Secretariat, the Adaptation Committee, the global support programmes for NAPs and other partners.

UNFCCC Outlines Next Steps for BURs [viewed]

Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee Submits Review Recommendations [viewed]

Russian Federation, Gabon Submit INDCs [viewed]

flags_russia_gabon1 April 2015: The Governments of the Russian Federation and Gabon have submitted their intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs) to the UNFCCC Secretariat. With their submissions, a total of 35 parties have formally announced their INDCs. The Russian Federation's contribution brings the total emissions from industrialized countries covered by INDCs to nearly 80%. Gabon is the first African country to announce an INDC.

UNFCCC Discusses Arrangements for Intergovernmental Meetings [viewed]

UNFCCC31 March 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a note by the Executive Secretary on ‘Arrangements for Intergovernmental Meetings' (FCCC/SBI/2015/2) to be discussed at the 42nd session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI). The document includes a section on the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) and the 11th session of the COP serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 11), which will take place in Paris, France, in November-December 2015.

US Submits INDC [viewed]

USA Flag31 March 2015: The US has submitted its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC) to the UNFCCC Secretariat, formalizing its commitment to cut emissions by 26-28% below its 2005 levels by 2025. The contribution will represent an approximate doubling in the rate of its emissions cuts and is consistent with a straight line emission reduction pathway from 2020 to reductions of 80% or more below 2005 levels by 2050, according to the submission.

Norway, Mexico Submit INDCs [viewed]

mexico_norway30 March 2015: The Governments of Norway and Mexico submitted their intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs) to the UNFCCC on 27 and 30 March 2015, respectively. The submissions followed those by Switzerland and the EU, and brought the total number of parties to the UNFCCC that have formally submitted their INDCs to 32.
