Bonn Climate Change Talks Conclude as Attention Turns to Accra [viewed]

2008: Four parallel meetings took place between 2-13 June 2008, in Bonn,

Germany, under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto

Protocol. The second session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term

Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA), which was launched in Bali,

started its substantive work in Bonn, while the resumed fifth session of the Ad

Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the

Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP) began the process of listing issues for further

negotiation, particularly on the Kyoto Protocol's market-based mechanisms and

on carbon sinks.

41st Session of the IOC Executive Council to Consider Contribution to UNFCCC Objectives [viewed]

June 2008: The 41st session of the

Intergovernmental Oceanic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific

and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which will take place from 24 June-1 July

2008, in Paris, France, is scheduled to consider: the contribution of IOC

programmes to achieving the objectives of the UNFCCC; whether there is any need

to modify the present arrangements; and the IOC's intention to continue its

close cooperation with the UNFCCC Secretariat.

UNFCCC Secretariat Signs MOUs on Exchange of CDM Data [viewed]

Memorandum_of_understanding22 May 2008: The UNFCCC Secretariat has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Institute for Global Environment Strategies (IGES), based in Japan, and UNEP Risoe, in Denmark, to ensure that the organizations receive a faster, smoother flow of information related to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

Summit to Focus on Private Sector's Climate Change Role [viewed]

Glacier_212 May 2008: The World Business Summit on Climate Change will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in May 2009. The May 2009 summit, backed by the UN, will be convened by the Copenhagen Climate Council, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the Pew Center on Global Climate Change. It is expected to attract many senior private sector executives, government and UN officials, as well as experts and representatives of the non-governmental community.

Bangkok Climate Talks and UNFCCC Executive Secretary Focus on Work during the Coming Months [viewed]
