UNFCCC Report Assesses CDM [viewed]

UNFCCC20 November 2012: The UNFCCC has published a report evaluating achievements under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). The report, titled "Benefits of the Clean Development Mechanism 2012," expands on a previous study, released in 2011, with an analysis of roughly 4,000 CDM projects in four areas: sustainable development, technology transfer, finance and regional distribution.

G20 Ministers Discuss Green Growth, Climate and Disaster Risk Financing [viewed]

5 November 2012: The Group of 20 (G20) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors discussed progress on green growth, phaseout of fossil fuel subsidies, climate finance and disaster risk financing during a meeting from 4-5 November 2012, in Mexico City, Mexico. The Ministers and Governors assessed progress on a G20 mandate to promote growth and job creation and to address ongoing economic and financial challenges.

UNFCCC Releases Report on GEF Support for Non-Annex I National Communications [viewed]

UNFCCC21 November 2012: The UNFCCC released an information document on financial support provided by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) for the preparation of national communications by non-Annex I Parties. The report includes an addendum to the GEF report to the Conference of the Parties (COP), which contains a table on the status of national communications from such Parties (FCCC/SBI/2012/INF.13 and FCCC/CP/2012/6/Add.1, respectively).

UNFCCC Releases Report on Regional Expert Meetings on Loss and Damage [viewed]

UNFCCC19 November 2012: The UNFCCC has released a report on the regional expert meetings on a range of approaches to address loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change, including impacts related to extreme weather events and slow onset events (FCCC/SBI/2012/29). The report summarizes regional level meetings in Ethiopia, Mexico and Thailand and one meeting on small island developing States (SIDS) in Barbados.

UNFCCC Announces Winners of the 2012 CDM African Radio Contest [viewed]

UNFCCC16 November 2012:  The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced the winners of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) African Radio Contest 2012. The Secretariat launched the contest under the theme “Changing Lives,” with the aim of raising awareness on the CDM's benefits in Africa.
