26 November 2012: The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG KP) released the quantified emission limitation or reduction objectives (QELROs) for the second commitment period from Australia, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein and Ukraine.
21 November 2012: The Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) has accredited two new entities as a National Implementing Entities (NIEs): the Fundecooperacion for Sustainable Development of Costa Rica, and the Agency for Agricultural Development (ADA) of Morocco.
21 November 2012: Prior to its opening, UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres said the UN Climate Change Conference in Doha, Qatar, must deliver on objectives to speed up global action towards a low-emission future where everyone has the chance of a sustainable life.
As delegates from around the world gather in Doha for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 18/CMP 8), they will have to tackle significant political issues that remain to be resolved in the UNFCCC negotiation process. However, I hope they also keep in mind that action on the ground to address climate change is already taking place and we need to do a better job at recognizing such activities.
26 November 2012: The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has released a new report, titled "IRENA Handbook on Renewable Energy Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) for Policy Makers and Project Developers," that analyzes the role NAMAs can play in renewable energy deployment in developing countries and offers insights from case studies in Peru, Kenya and Grenada.
23 November 2012: At its 70th meeting, held from 19-23 November 2012, in Doha, Qatar, the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) approved a tool that project participants can utilize to describe the sustainable development co-benefits of their CDM projects.
22 November 2012: The UNFCCC released a report on the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and women that highlights the potential contribution of various CDM methodologies to the empowerment of women.
26 November 2012: The 2012 UN Climate Change Conference has opened in Doha, Qatar. The meeting will include the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 8th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 8). The Conference will run from 26 November-7 December 2012.
21 November 2012: The UNFCCC released an addendum to the report of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) (FCCC/CP/2012/6/Add.2). It provides information on the resource status approved for non-Annex I Parties to prepare biennial update reports (BUR).
21 November 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat's 32nd Newsletter focuses on the Doha Climate Change Conference, which is being held from 26 November - 7 December in Doha, Qatar. The newsletter features section on adaptation, mitigation, finance, technology and updates on the Ad Hoc Working Groups (AWGs).
