4 December 2012: Participants at the Doha Climate Change Conference celebrated the accomplishments of nine public-private "Lighthouse Activities," pioneering initiatives curbing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while yielding benefits for the urban poor. The concept behind the activities is to highlight inspiring mitigation and adaptation activities, and to spur innovation and increase capacity for future initiatives.

1 December 2012: The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) organized a side event on "Biofuels: Getting Rid of the Hype" in the context of the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Doha, Qatar, to discuss the role of biofuels in climate change mitigation and sustainable development.
30 November 2012: The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat has agreed to offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions remaining after its own emissions reduction efforts, including its travel emissions from attendance to the Doha Climate Change Conference. The decision came as an agreement with the Adaptation Fund Board and its trustee, the World Bank.
3 December 2012: The Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) launched the UN Alliance on Climate Change Education, Training and Public Awareness along with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
