31 January 2011: The proposed agenda, annotated agenda and draft work programme for the 59th meeting of the Executive Board (EB) of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), scheduled to take place from 14-18 February 2011, in Bonn, Germany, are now available on the CDM website.
24 January 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report (FCCC/ARR/2010/MCO) of the review of the annual inventory submission of Monaco.
28 January 2011: During a meeting held on 25 January 2011, in Bonn, Germany, the Bureau of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) of the UNFCCC decided on the dates and venue of the first round of formal negotiations in 2011.
24 January 2011: The report of the 29th meeting of the Small-Scale (SSC) Working Group of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), which took place from 11-14 January 2011, in Bonn, Germany, is now available.
The first formal round of climate change negotiations in 2011 include: the 16th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 16); the 14th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 14); and workshops pursuant to the Cancun Agreements and to other decisions as appropriate. Preparatory meetings of the Group of 77 and China, the African Group, the small island developing States (SIDS) and the least developed countries are expected to meet from 30 March-2 April 2011.
CBD Notification Identifies Areas of Potential Input of Biodiversity Considerations into Climate Change Discussions [viewed]
19 January 2011: In an effort to enhance synergies between the two processes, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has prepared a notification including invitations for parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to submit their views on areas of potential input of biodiversity considerations into the climate change discussions.
January 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has extended the deadline by which vendors interested in administering a loan scheme over a five-year period in respect of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) are requested to submit a written expression of interest.
17 January 2011: The fourth World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2011 opened in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on 17 January 2011. The first day of this four-day event was organized around the theme “Policy and Strategy Forum,” and comprised opening statements from HE Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO Masdar, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Heads of State and other dignitaries, followed by special addresses and ministerial panels.
10 January 2011: The Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) has marked the issuance of more than 500 million certified emission reductions (CERs).
