9 October 2012: The Rio Conventions Pavilion at the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) commenced on 9 October 2012, for sessions on the theme “Towards Integrated Science, Assessments and Monitoring for the Rio Conventions.” Neil Pratt, CBD Secretariat, opened the Pavilion, underscoring its purpose to “encourage and support the implementation of the Rio Conventions at the national level.”
18 September 2012: The Bureau of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), at its 17-18 September meeting in Bonn, Germany, set the dates for the eleventh meeting of the CRIC and discussed issues relating to the review of implementation process, among other issues.
18 September 2012: Luc Gnacadja, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and Li Congjun, President Xinhua News Agency, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to spread news regarding land restoration globally.
The eleventh session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 11) is scheduled to convene from 15-19 April 2013. Regional meetings preparatory to CRIC 11 are expected to convene prior to the event. The third Special Session of the Committee of Science and Technology (CST S-3) and the 2nd UNCCD Scientific Conference will convene immediately before CRIC 11, also in Bonn, Germany.
