Event: GEF Central Africa Constituency Workshop [viewed]
The GEF Central Africa Region Expanded Constituency Workshop (ECW) will bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main Conventions (Biodiversity, Desertification, Climate Change and POPs), representatives from civil society and representatives from GEF agencies. The purpose of the meeting is to keep these stakeholders abreast of GEF strategies, policies and procedures and to encourage coordination. The ECW will include participants from Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe.
January 2010: Luc Gnacadja, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and Monique Barbut, Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), co-hosted a staff retreat between their respective Secretariats, on 4 January 2011. 
17 December 2010: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) organized a technical workshop on impact indicator refinement from 16-17 December 2010, in Bonn, Germany. 
8 December 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has released a report titled “Economics of Climate Change in Latin America and the Caribbean,” which estimates losses of around 1% of annual GDP in the region's countries between 2010 and 2100 unless a global consensus is reached on mitigation actions.
29 November 2010: The programme of the Rio Conventions' Ecosystems and Climate Change Pavilion, held at the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Cancun, Mexico (the Cancun Climate Change Conference), from 29 November-10 December, highlights the benefits for the climate change agenda to be realized from an integrated strategy addressing the multiple drivers of biodiversity loss and land degradation.
November 2010: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated information, including links to presentations, videos and photos, from the inaugural "Rio Conventions' Ecosystems and Climate Change Pavilion," held from 18-28 October 2010 on the margins of the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the CBD in Nagoya, Japan.
11 November 2010: The third conference on Drylands, Deserts and Desertification, which convened from 8-11 November 2010, at the Sede Boqer's Blaustein Institute for Desert Research at Ben Gurion University in Israel, developed a "Statement on the Synergistic Implementation of the Rio Conventions in the Drylands."
10 November 2010: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has posted the assessment it commissioned to review the organization of the first UNCCD Scientific Conference.
