16 April 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a miscellaneous document containing submissions by five parties on implications of the implementation of decisions 2/CMP.7 to 4/CMP.7 and 1/CMP.8 (amendment to the Kyoto Protocol) on the relevant decisions adopted for the Kyoto Protocol first commitment period and for the reporting of land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) activities for the Protocol's second commitment period.
At the opening of the eleventh meeting of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 11), Deputy Minister for Environment and Tourism of Namibia, Pohamba Shifeta, announced that the Republic of Namibia has offered to host the eleventh session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The meeting is expected to take place from 16-27 September 2013.
The Regional Workshop on Promoting International Collaboration to Facilitate Preparation, Submission and Implementation of NAMAs will be held from 16-19 April 2013 in Maseru, Lesotho. The meeting will aim at facilitating the preparation, submission and implementation of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in Africa.
17 April 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat launched a portal, titled "Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) insights," which features analysis and data on the CDM, such as graphics and related downloadable data for project activities and Programme of Activities (PoAs) under validation, registration, as well as intelligence about the CDM on a monthly basis.
15 April 2013: The Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention) and Conservation International (CI) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on the sidelines of the 46th meeting of the Ramsar Standing Committee to provide a framework for future cooperation.
12 April 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the centralized review of the 2012 annual submission of Romania (FCCC/ARR/2012/ROU), which indicates that total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for this country decreased by 57.6% between 1990 and 2010, the key driver for this decrease being the economic downturn during the transition period to a market economy.
12 April 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the centralized review of the 2012 annual submission of Belarus (FCCC/ARR/2012/BLR), which indicates that total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for this country, excluding the land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) sector, decreased by 35.7% between 1990 and 2010.
