UNEP Builds Refrigeration Capacity in African Countries to Increase Climate and Ozone Co-Benefits [viewed]

UNEP15 June 2014: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) convened a meeting of African ozone officers from 11-13 June, in Kigali, Rwanda, to build capacity in safe refrigeration and air-conditioning practices to increase ozone and climate co-benefits. The workshop provided training to technicians in the field of refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC), with the aim of ensuring safe handling and servicing of RAC equipment as part of the move towards alternatives to hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFCs).

Event: UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference [viewed]

The UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference will take place from 9-12 March 2015, in Mexico, and will address the theme "Combating desertification, land degradation and drought for poverty reduction and sustainable development – the contribution of science, technology, traditional knowledge and practices”. It will be held during the fourth special session of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST S-4) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The Scientific Conference aims harness a wide range of scientific, local and traditional knowledge to achieve poverty reduction and sustainable development in areas susceptible to desertification, land degradation and drought. The Conference is being organized by the UNCCD Secretariat and the Scientific and Traditional Knowledge for Sustainable Development (STK4SD) Consortium.

UNFCCC to Award Fellowships to Young SIDS Professionals [viewed]

UNFCCC Launches Capacity-building Portal [viewed]

UNFCCC10 June 2014: The UNFCCC Secretariat has launched a Capacity-building Portal, a tool developed to help monitor and review capacity built to better mitigate and adapt to climate change. Users are able to customize search criteria, visualize data through interactive maps, bubbles and multicolored pie charts, line up results in tables and print them.
