November 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) has enabled programmes of activities (JI PoA). At its 18th meeting, which was held from 22-23 October 2009, the JISC adopted a procedure that will enable JI PoA under the JI Track 2 procedure.
11 November 2009: Scientists and Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) officials have stressed that, as global warming alters temperatures and precipitation patterns around the world, the threat posed by invasive species is rising.
6 November 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has received a submission from the Secretariat of the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) (FCCC/SBSTA/2009/MISC.12), containing the 2010 provisional update to the Implementation Plan for the GCOS in Support of the UNFCCC. This document will be considered by the 31st session of the UNFCCC's Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), which will take place from 7-18 December 2009, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
6 November 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that the Kyoto Protocol will enter into force for Chad on 17 November 2009, as it deposited its instrument of accession to the Kyoto Protocol on 18 August 2009. Chad's accession will bring the number of parties to the Protocol, both States and regional economic integration organizations, to 190.
5 November 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report (FCCC/ARR/2008/HRV) of the individual review of the greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories of Croatia submitted in 2007 and 2008.
5 November 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a note (FCCC/SBI/2009/INF.9) that provides information on the status of submissions and review of fourth national communications, and of reports demonstrating progress under the Kyoto Protocol, from Annex I parties.
6 November 2009: The resumed ninth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 9) and resumed seventh session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 7) were held from 2-6 November 2009, in Barcelona, Spain, bringing together approximately 3,100 participants.
5 November 2009: The report and annexes of the 23rd meeting of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Small Scale Working Group (SSC WG) have been released. The meeting took place from 27-30 October 2009, in Bonn, Germany, and considered issues relating to baseline and monitoring methodologies for small-scale CDM project activities.
4 November 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a submission by the EU on the operation of funds under the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF), and the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) to inform the review of the financial mechanism by the 31st session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) in Copenhagen (FCCC/SBI/2009/MISC.10).
3 November 2009: The report and annexes of the 26th meeting of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Afforestation and Reforestation Working Group (A/R WG) have been released.
