UNFCCC Publishes Corrigendum to Russia's GHG Inventory Review Report [viewed]

13 December 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a Corrigendum to the report of the centralized review of the 2011 annual submission of the Russian Federation (FCCC/ARR/2011/RUS/Corr.1). The corrigendum introduces some amendments to the information reported on emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases (GHGs) resulting from land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) activities, in accordance with Article 3, paragraphs 3 and 4.

Montreal Protocol Recognizes UNDP's Contribution to ODS Phase Out [viewed]

10 December 2012: Marco Gonzalez, Executive Secretary of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and its Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, presented an award to Helen Clark, UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator, in recognition of UNDP's “exceptional contribution to the success of the Montreal Protocol.”

FAO Launches New FAOSTAT Website [viewed]

FAODecember 2012: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released a new interface for FAOSTAT, providing a new easy platform for food and agriculture statistics. FAOSTAT includes raw data, analyses and tools to compare data across a series of thematic areas. The data cover 245 countries and 35 regions from 1961 to the present.

Doha Climate Change Conference Adopts Doha Climate Gateway [viewed]

8 December 2012: The UN Climate Change Conference in Doha, Qatar, took place from 26 November-8 December 2012, focused on ensuring the implementation of agreements reached at previous conferences. Following two weeks of negotiations, delegates adopted the package of “Doha Climate Gateway” decisions on the evening of Saturday, 8 December. The outcome includes amendments to the Kyoto Protocol to establish its second commitment period.

IUCN, Global Gender and Climate Alliance Launch Report on Gender and Climate Change [viewed]

26 November 2012: The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA) launched a publication, titled “The Art of Implementation: Gender Strategies Transforming National and Regional Climate Change Decision Making,” on the sidelines of the Doha Climate Change Conference. The publication showcases actions by women addressing mitigation or adaptation in 11 developing countries or regions.

UNFCCC, Rockefeller Foundation Launch Initiative on Women and Climate Change [viewed]

6 December 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat and the Rockefeller Foundation launched a new initiative, titled “Momentum for Change: Women for Results,” on the sidelines of the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC in Doha, Qatar. The Initiative aims to showcase the role of women in climate change adaptation and mitigation activities.

4 December 2012: The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat and the European Climate Foundation (ECF) jointly event held on the sidelines of the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC in Doha, Qatar, which stressed the need to urgently address the emissions gap and scale up local actions through the international climate process.

CDM Insights Web Portal Offers Data and Analysis Resources [viewed]

UNFCCC5 December 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced the launch of a revamped portal with up-to-date analysis and data about the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). The portal, called CDM Insights, features graphics, statistics, descriptions, and downloadable data on topics including: CDM validation; issuance of Certified Emissions Reduction (CER) credits; and CDM methodologies.
