UNGA General Debate 2014 Addresses Climate Agreement, Financing, SIDS [viewed]

United Nations27 September 2014: During days three and four of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) General Debate 2014, many speakers addressed climate change. Speakers focused on international and national action, including transitions to renewable energy, and financing. Small island developing States (SIDS) particularly urged action, emphasizing they are already experiencing adverse effects on food and water security, biodiversity and oceans.

UNMC, World We Want Collect Views on 'MY Green World' [viewed]

mygreenSeptember 2014: The UN Millennium Campaign and World We Want 2015 launched consultations to support the building of MY Green World, a MY World "spin-off" survey that will gather citizen perceptions on climate change solutions and support for government measures to tackle climate change within the context of the post-2015 development agenda. The survey will provide policy makers with insights on which climate change actions have popular support in different parts of the world.

Event: Expert Workshop on the Review of the TTE Training Programme [viewed]

Djibouti, Peru Accept Doha Amendment [viewed]

djibouti-peru24 September 2014: The UNFCCC Secretariat has reported that the Governments of Djibouti and Peru have accepted the Doha Amendment, which formalizes commitments for the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol (2013-2020). This brings the total number of Parties that have deposited their instruments of acceptance to 17.

Event: Asia and the Pacific Regional Workshop: Promoting the CDM and the Market Mechanisms [viewed]

The Asia and the Pacific Regional Workshop, to be held from 13-15 October in Bangkok, Thailand, will bring together designated national authorities (DNAs), national focal points (NFPs) and mitigation and market experts from the region, among others, to update market stakeholders on: recent developments in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM); future and existing mechanisms; and new and emerging emission trading schemes. The workshop will also allow for an exchange of knowledge and experience in promoting carbon finance and mitigation action in Asia and the Pacific.
