9 November 2010: The preparatory segment of the 22nd Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (MOP 22) is convening in Bangkok, Thailand, from 8-12 November 2010.
16 September 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) launched the executive summary of a new report, titled “Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion 2010,” on the UN International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. The report, by UNEP and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), offers the first comprehensive update on ozone depletion in four years, and provides new information on the effects of climate change on the ozone layer, as well as the impact of ozone changes on the Earth's climate.
The Executive Committee is expected to continue its consideration of matters related to the phase-out of HCFCs and other remaining ozone depleting substances (ODS), as well as financial planning and consideration of the three-year business plans of the bilateral and implementing agencies, and agencies' work programmes.
18 June 2010: The 30th meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG 30) of the parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer took place from 15-18 June 2010, in Geneva, Switzerland.
The location of the 22nd session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol has been changed. This meeting will now convene in Bangkok, Thailand.
3 June 2010: The World Bank approved a bundle of financial instruments for a project called the “Chillers Energy Efficiency Project,” which will replace around 375 chillers in the Philippines with more climate-friendly technologies.
The GEF Council Meeting will develop, adopt and evaluate GEF programmes. Council members representing 32 constituencies (16 from developing countries, 14 from developed countries, and two from countries with transitional economies) will be represented. An NGO Consultation will be held on the first day.
The Ozone Secretariat has released advance copies of the report of the 21st Meeting of the Parties (MOP-21) and the Forty-third Meeting of the Implementation Committee under the Non-Compliance Procedure for the Montreal Protocol.
