3 November 2009: On the margins of the UNFCCC talks taking place in Barcelona, Spain, UN-Water presented a key message on Water and Climate Change Adaptation prepared for the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP15).
October 2009: The report of the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Biodiversity and Climate Change, established under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), has been published as CBD Technical Series no. 41, titled “Connecting Biodiversity and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation – Report of the Second Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Biodiversity and Climate Change.”
20 October 2009: Addressing the World Green Roof Infrastructure Congress, held on 20 October 2009, in Toronto, Canada, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Ahmed Djoghlaf underscored the role of cities and local authorities for decisions relating to urban infrastructure, energy and transportation, all of which have a large impact both on climate change and biodiversity.
5 October 2009: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published its Monthly Bulletin of Activities, which includes, among other issues, a report on the sub-regional capacity-building workshop on forest biodiversity and climate change for South and South-East Asia, held from 2-5 September 2009, in Singapore City.
11 September 2009: The report of the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Biodiversity and Climate Change, established under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), has been finalized and will be published as CBD Technical Series no. 41, Connecting Biodiversity and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation – Report of the Second Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Biodiversity and Climate Change.
4 September 2009: Addressing the World Climate Conference-3 (WCC-3), CBD Executive Secretary Ahmed Djoghlaf stressed that adaptation to the impacts of climate change requires exchange of climate-related information in both directions: people on the ground need to have access to localized predictions of change, while scientists need access to observational data gathered by people on the ground.
September 2009: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the margins of the World Climate Conference-3 (WCC-3).
