ECOSOC Begins Meeting with BWIs on Post-2015, FfD [viewed]

ECOSOC20 April 2015: The UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) began its annual special high-level meeting with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), with a focus on the theme of ‘Coherence, coordination and cooperation in the context of financing for sustainable development and the post-2015 development agenda.' The meeting brought representatives of the Bretton Woods Institutions (BWIs) together with UN Member States to discuss post-2015 development and the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD 3).

Event: The Challenges of a Living List: Making Progress on a Green Goods Agreement [viewed]

Negotiations on a green goods agreement, announced earlier this year in Davos, Switzerland by 14 World Trade Organization (WTO) Members, will aim to create an initial and “living list” of green goods to be revised as technology evolves. This half-day event organized by the Geneva offices of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) will bring together practitioners, experts and administrators from a variety of agreements that have faced the challenges of a “living list,” to discuss their experiences and lessons learned for consideration by the WTO. Speakers will include John Scanlon, Secretary‐General, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Aaron Cosbey, Associate and Senior Advisor, IISD, and Ambassador Jonathan Fried, Permanent Representative of Canada to the WTO, among others. The event takes place on the eve of the WTO Public Forum.

FAO Launches New FAOSTAT Website [viewed]

FAODecember 2012: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released a new interface for FAOSTAT, providing a new easy platform for food and agriculture statistics. FAOSTAT includes raw data, analyses and tools to compare data across a series of thematic areas. The data cover 245 countries and 35 regions from 1961 to the present.
