Event: Global Science Conference on Climate-Smart Agriculture [viewed]

The Global Science Conference on Climate-Smart Agriculture is organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation of the Netherlands, the World Bank, and the University of Wageningen. It is sponsored by, inter alia, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) of the Consultative Group on Agricultural Research (CGIAR). It will bring together world experts on climate-smart agriculture to provide a synthesis of the current state of knowledge in order to deliver a set of findings based on multi-disciplinary science and best practices. The objectives of the conference are to: take stock of the current state of global knowledge of the science and best practices concerning climate-smart agriculture, in OECD and developing countries, and among private and public stakeholders; identify key priorities for further knowledge development; and summarize key findings for discussion at the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC in Durban, South Africa, at the end of 2011, and the follow up global conference on Food Security and Climate Change in Viet Nam in early 2012.

World Bank, GEF Fund Kiribati's Adaptation Programme [viewed]

IFC's Post-2012 Carbon Facility Shows Private Sector Interest in Carbon Markets [viewed]

September 2011: The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, reached full subscription of over US$200 million for its Post-2012 Carbon Facility, helping secure what is expected to be at least US$2 billion in low carbon growth across the developing world despite uncertain carbon market conditions.

3 September 2011: Flavia Munaaba, Ugandan Minister of State for the Environment, opened the Special Joint Session on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) during the 29th Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (GHACOF29). The Special Session was convened to effect a paradigm shift for addressing climate change and risks within the region, with participants highlighting progress in reducing drought risk so far.

CDM Project in Egypt Replaces Polluting Taxi Fleet [viewed]
