CCAC Agriculture Initiative Expands to Methane Emissions from Rice [viewed]

ccac-ccaf-ciat-irri31 October 2014: A research effort to reduce methane emissions from rice cultivation in Viet Nam, Bangladesh and Colombia has been launched under the Agriculture Initiative of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC). Three international research institutions, working together with rice farmers, policy makers and other partners, expect to reduce emissions by 30-50% by using an innovative irrigation method.

IEA, ADB Identify Energy Efficiency Recommendations for Southeast Asia [viewed]

World Bank Charts Zero-carbon Electricity Pathways for Climate Stabilization [viewed]

World Bank1 October 2014: The World Bank has published a policy research working paper, titled ‘Pathways toward Zero-carbon Electricity Required for Climate Stabilization,' which calculates the carbon content of electricity in a set of existing prospective stabilization scenarios, and shows that near-zero carbon electricity: is required for staying within a global temperature rise range of 2-3°C; can be achieved even if some key technologies are not available; and should occur in every major country or region in the world.
