3 December 2012: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) organized a High Level Event on Technology Transfer and Finance alongside the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC, in Doha, Qatar, to discuss the role of public policy and private investments in stimulating climate technology transfer.
2 December 2012: Two events addressing climate change adaptation and development took place simultaneously at the Ezdan Hotel and Suites in Doha, Qatar, on 1-2 December 2012, in parallel with the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC.
1 December 2012: On the sidelines of the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) CEO and Chairperson Naoko Ishii met with participants to discuss "GEF 2020," the GEF's long-term strategic vision. Moderated by Robert Dixon, the event highlighted how the Facility intends to mainstream its work "on the ground."
30 November 2012: The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat has agreed to offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions remaining after its own emissions reduction efforts, including its travel emissions from attendance to the Doha Climate Change Conference. The decision came as an agreement with the Adaptation Fund Board and its trustee, the World Bank.
This meeting will include the meetings of: the Forest Investment Program (FIP) Sub-Committee; the Scaling Up Renewable Energy Programme (SPREP) Sub-Committee; the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR) Sub-Committee; the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF) Trust Fund Committee; and the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) Trust Fund Committee.
3 December 2012: Mountain Day 2, which focused on the topic "Mainstreaming Rio+20 outcomes in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) processes for prosperous, resilient, and sustainable mountain ecosystems and communities,” took place in Doha, Qatar, on 3 December 2012, on the sidelines of the 18th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC.
18 September 2012: The Third Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (CSEF III) recommended greater coordination among Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member States in policies regarding energy integration, energy efficiency and the promotion of renewable energy sources.
1 December 2012: The World Bank has released a report that aims to facilitate the development of a policy framework for promoting climate-friendly investment in South Asia. A major output of the study is the piloting of the Climate Investment Readiness Index, a tool for evaluating the enabling environment for private sector investment in different countries.
28 November 2012: The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved a €50 million loan to support investments in water and sanitation facilities in the Spanish region of Cantabria. The loan will help finance a project aimed at increasing water supply and wastewater management in coastal areas through the construction of new treatment plants and other sewage infrastructure.
28 November 2012: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank have released a new version of their web platform on climate finance information. The Climate Finance Options (CFO) website features sections on funding sources, a knowledge center and on the ground activities, each of which aims to facilitate decision making.
