World Bank-Supported Event Encourages Youth to Consider Green South Asia [viewed]
24 December 2012: Supported by the World Bank, the 9th annual South Asia Economic Students Meet (SAESM), held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 18-22 December 2012, provided a cross-cultural platform for future Asian leaders to exchange innovative ideas on environmental challenges. Under the theme "Towards a Green South Asia," the goal was to engage youth from rising South Asian economies on environmental solutions, while encouraging regional cooperation.
21 December 2012: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided €50 million to Finansbank for on-lending to private companies investing in renewable energy, industrial energy efficiency and waste-to-energy projects in Turkey. 
19 December 2012: The Clean Energy Ministerial's (CEM) Global Lighting and Energy Access Partnership (Global LEAP) has announced the laureates of the Lighting Global Outstanding Product Awards, which recognizes sustainable off-grid solar lighting products for people without access to electricity in developing countries.
3 December 2012: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) co-organized a regional workshop for the Latin American banking sector, particularly development banks, to promote dialogue on financial instruments that promote climate change mitigation through energy efficiency, renewable energy and agricultural projects in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). 
14 December 2012: At its 19th meeting, the Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) accredited its 15th National Implementing Entity (NIE), the International Cooperation Agency of Chile; and approved $12.3 million in grants to fund projects in Argentina and Sri Lanka.
18 December 2012: With support from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), the Connect4climate (C4C) campaign coalition with a strong focus on Africa youth and the use of social media has been launched in Times Square, NY, through a 25-second climate music video resulting from a collaboration between Eminem and the Kenyan hip hop group TS1.
December 2012: In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Economic Cooperation Program, initiated in 1992, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched the second edition of its GMS Atlas of the Environment.
20 December 2012: The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and World Bank's Lighting Africa programme has announced that the clean energy company Barefoot Power has successfully registered its programme of activities under the UNFCCC Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
