27 October 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the Report of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to the fifteenth Conference of the Parties.
October 2009: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) is the implementing agency for a Global Environment Facility-funded (GEF) project to build up the resilience and adaption capacity of mountain forest ecosystems in Armenia, a biodiversity hotspot area containing half of the region's floral diversity, to protect against climate change effects.
27 October 2009: The Fifth GEF Biennial International Waters Conference, co-hosted by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Government of Australia, gathered over 300 of the world's leading water specialists to identify practical measures for coping with climatic variability. The Conference convened from 24-29 October 2009, at the Australian Great Barrier Reef, and featured new research on protecting coral reefs, adapting to the accelerated warming of coastal oceans, and adjusting to the movement of fisheries away from warming, polluted waters.
15 October 2009: The third meeting of participants for the fifth Global Environment Facility (GEF-5) Replenishment convened at the World Bank office in Paris, France, from 14-15 October 2009.
24 September 2009: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) are supporting an innovative mechanism for insuring renewable energy projects in developing countries. The global renewable energy insurance facility, which was launched by Munich, RSA Insurance Group (RSA) and CarbonRe, will be operated via an internet website and will offer standard and customized insurance solutions for renewable energy projects in developing countries.

25 September 2009: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) have launched the “Global Market Transformation for Efficient Lighting Platform,” a public-private partnership directed at reducing global energy demand for lighting.
16 September 2009: At its seventh meeting, held from 14-16 September 2009 in Bonn, Germany, the Adaptation Fund (AF) Board took several landmark decisions concerning the operationalization of, and direct access to, the Fund by eligible parties.
10 September 2009: The e8 group of electric utility companies, in partnership with the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) recently convened a conference on “Financing Sustainable Electrification: South and South-East Asia Dialogues,” in Bangkok, Thailand.
14 September 2009: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has presented the results of a study on “Shaping Climate-Resilient Development,” which provides a set of tools for decision makers to adopt a tailored approach for estimating adaptation costs based on local climate conditions, and for building more resilient economies.
