20 December 2011: During a ceremony marking the close of the International Year of Forests, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) released a book titled "Fruit Trees and Useful Plants in Amazonian Life," which is meant to be accessible to readers without a formal education.
15 December 2011: The European Environment Agency (EEA) has released a report titled "End-user GHG emissions from energy: Reallocation of emissions from energy industries to end users 2005-2009," according to which home energy use is responsible for 25% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions in the EU.
8 December 2011: The Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security Program of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) has noted that it is helping farmers share information about how climate change may impact production by identifying climate analogues.
7 December 2011: The UN-REDD programme has announced the signing of a Declaration on Intent by seven central African countries, seven donor countries and the European Commission to scale up implementation of REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries).
4 December 2011: Forest Day 5 convened in Durban, South Africa, under the theme “From Policy to Practice,” with a special focus on the role of African forests in mitigating and adapting to climate change.
5 December 2011: Calling on climate negotiators to include agriculture in the text of the climate agreement, 16 leading agriculture organizations made an appeal through a jointly endorsed letter to the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP) during the Durban Climate Change Conference.
The appeal to COP 17 was discussed at Agriculture and Rural Development Day, held on 3 December 2011, during which more than 500 participants addressed priorities for meeting food security challenges while supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation.
1 December 2011: The Fourth High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness adopted a declaration titled the "Busan Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation." The Forum reviewed global progress on aid effectiveness, including a review of targets set in the 2005 Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness, shared experiences in delivering the best results, and developed new commitments toward effectiveness of aid in reducing poverty, achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and supporting development beyond 2015.

1 December 2011: The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) has launched a book titled “How trees and people can co-adapt to climate change: Reducing vulnerability in multifunctional landscapes.”
1 December 2011: The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and the Alternatives to Slash and Burn Partnership for the Tropical Forest Margins (ASB) programme have released a series of policy briefs that focus on topics including agroforestry, carbon markets, climate-smart agriculture and REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks).
