31 January 2012: The latest newsletter of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) provides an assessment of the outcomes of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), concluding that it delivered mixed results for forests.
23 January 2012: The seventh UK-Caribbean Ministerial Forum, which was organized under the theme "Sustainable Growth Toward Prosperity," concluded with the adoption of a 31-point action plan. The UK agreed to give the region 75 million pounds over four years for its implementation, with 4.9 million pounds earmarked for climate change work.
25 January 2012: An inter-agency report, titled "Green Economy in a Blue World," concludes that the ecological health and economic productivity of marine and coastal ecosystems can be enhanced from well-managed marine sectors.
24 January 2012: Speaking at a hearing on Nordic leadership for climate change action, former UNFCCC Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer urged Nordic countries to take the lead towards a global solution. He stressed that "more cooperation between government and business is the only road ahead to save the climate."
January 2011: Bioversity International has developed and released a new online resource to facilitate the conservation and use of wild plant species in Guatemala that are related to cultivated crops. The conservation of crop wild relatives is important due to their role in breeding improved crop varieties that are hardier, more productive, more nutritious, more disease and drought resistant, and better adapted to climate change stresses.

The Group of 20 (G20) Summit of the world's twenty major economies will take place in Los Cabos, Mexico, and will be the first such summit to occur in Latin America. In its G20 Presidency role during 2012, Mexico has prioritized: economic stability and structural reform for growth and employment; strengthening of financial systems and procurement of financial inclusion for economic growth; improving international financial architecture in an interconnected global economy; mitigating negative effects on price level and volatility of commodities, in particular those affecting food security; and promoting sustainable development with a focus on infrastructure, energy efficiency, green growth and financing the fight against climate change.
The Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) is a multilateral partnership of six countries working together to sustain extraordinary marine and coastal resources by addressing crucial issues such as food security, climate change and marine biodiversity. A dialogue between the CTI-CFF Council of Ministers, the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat and CTI-CFF Development Partners will be held in Sabah, Malaysia on Sept. 6-7, 2012.The dialogue will focus on program updates and preparations for the next CTI Senior Officials Meeting later in 2012.
