Third High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness Opens [viewed]

2 September 2008: The Third High Level Forum on Aid

Effectiveness is taking place from 2-4 September 2008, in Accra, Ghana. Over

100 high-level country representatives, as well as heads of bilateral and

multilateral development agencies, donor organizations, and civil society

organizations, will discuss ways to increase the transparency of aid and make

it more results-oriented.

International Polar Day - People September 2008: The sixth quarterly International Polar Day,

which will be celebrated on 24 September 2008, will address how climate change

and renewed exploitation present urgent challenges to Arctic people, including

Nineteenth SPREP Meeting to Address the Implementation of the Pacific Islands Framework for Action on Climate Change 2006-2015 [viewed]

Taking action on climate change in the Pacific - regional Action Plan to implement the Pacific Framework for Action on Climate Change 2006-2015 August 2008: The nineteenth South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) Meeting of Officials, which will be held from 4-12 September 2008, in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia, will consider

a number of climate related matters, including the Action Plan for the

implementation of the Pacific Islands Framework for Action on Climate Change

2006-2015. Participants are also scheduled to examine a Plan for Action on the

Pacific Year of Climate Change 2009.

Development and Aid Effectiveness will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 26-28

August 2008, and will focus on climate change, food security and aid

effectiveness. The event will bring together African parliamentarians and

experts, as well as members of parliament from Europe and Japan.
