17 June 2009: The Governing Board of the International Energy Agency (IEA) has approved the hosting in Paris, France, of the Secretariat of the International Partnership on Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC).
15 June 2009: Angel Gurría, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General, addressed the International Economic Forum of the Americas (Conference of Montreal) on 9 June 2009, presenting on “Energy and Sustainable Development in the Context of the Economic Crisis.”
29 May 2009: Representatives of the States of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group and the European Community (EC) and its member States met in Brussels, Belgium, from 28-29 May 2009, for the Joint ACP-EC Council of Ministers and adopted a joint declaration on climate change and development.
The first report, titled “Energía y Cambio Climático: oportunidades para una política integrada en América Latina y el Caribe” (Energy and climate change: opportunities for an integrated policy in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)) and authored by Jean Acquatella, assesses opportunities for integrated policy approaches towards energy security and climate change mitigation in LAC countries during the 2010-2030 period.
5 June 2009: The Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published an “Environmental Performance Review of Finland,” which notes that in 2006 Finland's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions had increased by 13% compared to 1990 levels, well above the country's Kyoto commitment of 0%.
5 June 2009: A new report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) outlines key steps towards the development of a single international carbon price, including phasing out fossil fuel subsidies and expanding and linking regional carbon markets through direct linking of existing emission trading systems, scaled-up Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), use of sectoral crediting mechanisms, and incorporation of the forest sector.
2 June 2009: Despite the turmoil in the financial world, during 2008 the global carbon market doubled to US$126 billion, according to the World Bank's report titled “State and Trends of the Carbon Market 2009.”
29 May 2009: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) adopted policy guidance on Integrating Climate Change Adaptation into Development Co-operation.
May 2009: The Meeting of the Committee of Experts of the Second Joint Annual Meetings of the African Union (AU) Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance and UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Conference of Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from 2-5 June 2009. During the meeting, experts will consider a Progress Report on Climate Change and Development, which aims to update the 2009 Joint Annual Meetings on the progress made in the implementation of the Climate Change and Development (Clim-Dev) Africa programme by the AU Commission and the UNECA since the 2008 conference (E/ECA/COE/28/9; AU/CAMEF/EXP/9(IV)).
