During the Summit, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao reiterated his country's commitment to reducing carbon dioxide intensity in the economy by 40 to 50% by the year 2020, stressing that China is still a developing country at a sensitive stage in its industrial development, and that its per capita emissions are still below that of developed countries.
