unep_informea17 September 2015: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) launched the Law and Environmental Ontology Portal (LEO) at the 6th Multilateral Environment Agreement Information and Knowledge Management (MEA IKM) Initiative Steering Committee Meeting, held from 15-17 September 2015, in Montreux, Switzerland. Funded by the European Union, LEO provides an overview of relationships between multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs), as well as concepts, definitions and synonyms found in these conventions.

Ozone Day Celebrates '30 Years of Healing Ozone Together' [viewed]

ozone_together16 September 2015: The UN system celebrated the International Ozone Day under the theme '30 Years of Healing Ozone Together,' celebrating the 1985 signing of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer. European Environment and Space Agencies Sign MoU on Earth Observation [viewed]

eea-esa15 July 2015: Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Space Agency (ESA), the two agencies have agreed to exchange scientific expertise and technical information to strengthen work on Earth observation and environmental monitoring. Programme to Build DRR in Sub-Saharan Africa Announced at Margins of FfD3 [viewed]

UNISDR14 July 2015: An €80-million funding package has been unveiled to support disaster risk management across Sub-Saharan Africa. The five-year ‘Building Disaster Resilience to Natural Hazards in Sub-Saharan African Regions, Countries and Communities' programme was announced on the sidelines of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD3) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The European Union is helping to fund the programme, while the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) is one of the partners that will help to implement it.
