European Finance Ministers Adopt Conclusions on Durban Follow-up [viewed]
21 February 2012: During the Council meeting on Economic and Financial Affairs, European Finance Ministers adopted conclusions on "Climate Finance – Follow-up to the Durban Conference," which welcome the approval of the governing instrument for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) at the Durban Climate Change Conference, the work programme on long-term finance, and the decision on financing for REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries).
9 January 2012: The European Environment Agency (EEA) has released two reports on European Tax Reform (ETR). The reports, titled “Environmental Tax Reform in Europe: Opportunities for Eco-innovation” and “Environmental Tax Reform in Europe: Implications for Income Distribution,” highlight that implementing the ERT could spur eco-innovation, create jobs, and result in environmental benefits, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions. 
January 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has issued the first fact sheet in a series titled "Building MEA Capacity for Pacific Island Countries." The document is part of an EU project on “Capacity Building Related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Countries”.
16 January 2012: The Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) has published a report titled "The Global Bioenergy Partnership Sustainability Indicators for Bioenergy," which represents the first global, government-level consensus on sustainability indicators for bioenergy. 
16 January 2012: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the European Commission have launched a €5.3 million, three-year project in Malawi, Viet Nam and Zambia to identify challenges and opportunities for climate-smart agriculture and produce strategic plans for each country.
20 December 2011: A conference on “Islands and Overseas Entities' contribution to biodiversity conservation and the fight against climate change” was held at the European Parliament, and aimed to raise awareness on the importance of overseas entities and islands' assets to take up these challenges.
21 December 2011: The Court of Justice of the EU (ECJ) has ruled that the EU decision to include the aviation sector in its Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) from 2012, thereby providing that all airlines – including those of third countries – will have to acquire and surrender emission allowances for their flights departing from and arriving at European airports, is lawful under international law.
12 December 2011: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has selected the ten best projects financed under the joint EU-EBRD programme “Energy Efficiency Finance Facility” to support Romania's energy security strategy, increase energy savings and reduce carbon emissions.
