16 May 2012: In the lead up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), the European Environment Agency (EEA) has produced a publication titled "Environmental Indicator Report 2012." The Report assesses progress within the EU to support the transition to a green economy, and presents established indicators that illustrate progress towards improving resource efficiency and indicators that depict the risk of passing environmental thresholds.

The report identifies climate change challenges and responses, describes means of planning urban adaptation, and examines how multi-level governance enables urban adaptation.

8 May 2012: An Informal Ministerial Roundtable on Climate Change brought together representatives from 30 countries, including from least developed countries (LDCs) and the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), to build on the achievements of the Durban Climate Change Conference. The meeting, which was hosted by the EU, also provided an opportunity for Ministers to discuss the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

The review will be overseen by a review secretariat within the EEA and a technical expert review team.

3 May 2012: The European Environment Agency (EEA) has released a series of maps produced using Eye on Earth, which predict climate change impacts in Europe through 2100. Based on projections from the ENSEMBLES project, Europe will be, on average, 1.5°C warmer from 2021-2050 than it was from 1960-1990, and the temperature increase will average 3°C between 2071-2100, with the highest warming in Eastern Scandinavia, and South and South-East Europe.
