released a report on Atmospheric Brown Clouds (ABCs) that shows that, in

addition to affecting agriculture and human health, this layer of soot and

manmade particles can both aggravate, via the absorption of sunlight, and

counteract, via the reflection of sunlight and effects on cloud formation,

climate change due to greenhouse gases.

Committee on Earth Observation Satellites Submits Report to UNFCCC 28 October 2008: The Committee on Earth Observation

Satellites (CEOS) has prepared an updated report on progress by space agencies

involved in global observations in implementing actions in response to the Global

Climate Observing System (GCOS) implementation plan. The report was submitted

to the UNFCCC Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice, which

will hold its 29th session in Poznan, Poland, from 1-10 December 2008.

The study, which was released on 20 October 2008, considers aspects such as CO2 transport and storage, CCS demonstration, financial and regulatory incentives, development of legal and regulatory frameworks, public awareness and acceptance, international co-operation, and CCS Roadmaps, as well as the role of CCS in ambitious new energy scenarios that aim for substantial emissions

reduction.
