UNEP Releases Report on Ecosystem Restoration [viewed]

3 June 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released a new report titled "Dead Planet, Living Planet: Biodiversity and Ecosystem Restoration for Sustainable Development." The report highlights that the repair of forests, lakes and other types of nature reserves that have been damaged or depleted can generate wealth, create jobs, sequester carbon and alleviate poverty.

FAO Releases Report on Forests and Climate Change After Copenhagen [viewed]

May 2010: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and RECOFTC-Center for People and Forests have released a report on perspectives for Asia-Pacific with regard to forests and climate change following the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 15), which took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 2009.

ILO Publishes Report on Recovery and Growth with Decent Work [viewed]

2 June 2010: Juan Somavia, International Labour Organization (ILO) Director-General, presented his report to the 99th International Labour Conference, taking place from 2-18 June 2010, in Geneva, Switzerland. The report, titled "Recovery and Growth with Decent Work," identifies a number of vital and converging objectives for the agenda for policy dialogue and action on an employment-oriented framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth.

Event: Fifth International Conference on Flood Management [viewed]

This event is organized by the International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management, under the auspices of the UN Educational Scientific and Cultural and Educational Organization (UNESCO) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. It will be organized around the theme "Floods: From Risk to Opportunity," and will consist of five plenary sessions, 20 parallel sessions, four poster sessions, special events and technical and cultural tours.
