10 June 2009: The UN University's Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), CARE International and Columbia University's Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) launched a report titled “In Search of Shelter: Mapping the Effects of Climate Change on Human Migration and Displacement” during the Bonn climate change talks.
The first report, titled “Energía y Cambio Climático: oportunidades para una política integrada en América Latina y el Caribe” (Energy and climate change: opportunities for an integrated policy in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)) and authored by Jean Acquatella, assesses opportunities for integrated policy approaches towards energy security and climate change mitigation in LAC countries during the 2010-2030 period.
June 2009: A new study by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), a research center of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), finds that climate change will affect food security in areas that are already marginal for crop production, leading to shifts in livelihood strategies from crop production to increased reliance on livestock.
