February 2013: The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) and the UN University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) have released a report, titled "Governing the Forests: An Institutional Analysis of REDD+ and Community Forest Management in Asia." The report presents a background on REDD+, explores ways to link REDD+ to community forestry, and provides lessons learned and recommendations.
January 2013: The UN Development Programme (UNDP), together with the Capacity Development for Development Effectiveness (CDDE) Facility, has released a working paper that shares lessons from UNDP's implementation of a methodology for assessing government-wide public expenditures against stated national climate change policy.
6 February 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Riso has released the Coastal Hazard Wheel, a tool for coastal hazard assessment. The tool is intended to assist coastal planners and developers in assessing the hazard profile of coastal stretches under changing climatic conditions.
5 February 2013: A review of Sweden's energy policy published by the International Energy Agency (IEA) indicates that Sweden's trajectory towards a low-carbon economy is on track, although challenges remain. The review recommends that Sweden should, inter alia, develop an action plan to realize the 2030 target for achieving a fossil fuel-free vehicle fleet and increase investment in clean energy technologies, including smart grids, biofuels, and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
4 February 2013: Two International Energy Agency (IEA) reports, "Technology Roadmap: Fuel Economy of Road Vehicles" and "Policy Pathways: Improving the Fuel Economy of Road Vehicles - A policy package" have won the Outstanding Low-Carbon Publication Award. The award was presented by the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP), a public-private partnership that supports the development of effective policy and the transition to low carbon vehicles and fuels sponsored the awards.
February 2013: The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) released a report titled "Integrating Gender into Forestry Research - A Guide for CIFOR Scientists and Programme Administrators" outlining key gender considerations in forestry and presenting guidance on mainstreaming gender into CIFOR's research work.
February 2013: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have released the proceedings from their joint workshop on Building Resilience for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Agriculture Sector, which was held from 23-24 April 2012, in Rome, Italy.
February 2013: The UN Environment Programme Riso Centre (UNEP Riso), in collaboration with the UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD), published a report on the economics of forest and forest carbon projects.
6 February 2013: The 45th session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP)/World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Typhoon Committee considered, inter alia, urban flood risk management, cyclone renaming, severe weather forecasting, an assessment report on the influence of climate change on tropical cyclones.
5 February 2013: The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) has highlighted an article published in the Review Environmental Economics and Policy on designing effective REDD+ policies within three forest types, namely: remote (core) forest areas; frontier forests; and forest-agriculture mosaics.
