Long-Term Mitigation May Cost 0.1% of Average Global Annual GDP Growth - OECD [viewed]
18 September 2009: A new book titled The Economics of Climate Change Mitigation: Policies and Options for Global Action Beyond 2012, launched by the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), concludes that a full-fledged global carbon market would cost just one-tenth of a percent of average world annual GDP growth between 2012 and 2050 to achieve moderately ambitious climate targets. Put differently, this would mean a 4% reduction in GDP in 2050 compared to a scenario where no policy action is taken. Over the same period, world GDP growth is projected to grow by more than 250%.

16 September 2009: During the launch of the 2009 MDG Gap Task Force Report on Strengthening the Global Partnership for Development in a Time of Crisis, UN Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro highlighted that it is crucial to deliver on global poverty-fighting commitments in a word facing economic recession, food shortage and the continuing impact of climate change, factors that impede the realization of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). 
15 September 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the reordered and/or consolidated sections of the revised negotiating text (FCCC/AWGLCA/2009/INF.1) prepared by facilitators during and after the informal meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) held in Bonn, Germany, from 10-14 August 2009. 
3 September 2009: Aiming to aid policy makers in overcoming energy poverty by integrating energy decentralization into national and sector-specific decentralization policies, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has published a literature review of over 600 online documents entitled “Energy in National Decentralization Policies: A Review Focusing on Least Developed Countries and Sub-Saharan Africa.”

14 September 2009: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has presented the results of a study on “Shaping Climate-Resilient Development,” which provides a set of tools for decision makers to adopt a tailored approach for estimating adaptation costs based on local climate conditions, and for building more resilient economies.
