17 April 2013: The World Bank's Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) is celebrating 30 years of assisting developing countries in meeting their energy needs.
23 April 2013: The Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol (MLF) has committed up to US$385 million to China for the elimination of all industrial production of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) by 2030. China is the largest producer of HCFCs, and eliminating the country's HCFC production will prevent emissions equivalent to 8 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2).
22 April 2013: The Regional Workshop on "Integrating Local and Indigenous Knowledge related to Hydro-meteorological Hazards and Climate Change Adaptation with Scientific Knowledge: Lessons learned" concluded the second phase of the “Strengthening Resilience of Coastal and Small Island Communities towards Hydro-meteorological Hazards and Climate Change Impacts (StResCom)” project, a three-year project funded by the Japan Funds-in-Trust (UNESCO-JFIT).
5 April 2013: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will be administering a $39.2 million grant from the UK's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to support the adoption of sustainable farming methods in Brazil.
19 April 2013: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim have jointly announced the names of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) Advisory Board, whose members will provide strategic guidance and serve as global ambassadors for the initiative. Ban and Kim are co-chairing the Board, marking what the Secretary-General called "a new era in UN-World Bank relations."
19 April 2013: The UN Institute for Training and Research's (UNITAR) Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) have begun implementing a new disaster risk reduction (DRR) partnership project with an inaugural training course on DRR Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
19 April 2013: The Program for Scaling Up Renewable Energy in Low Income Countries (SREP) of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) is calling for proposals from Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and pilot countries to initiate the development of concept proposals for programmes and projects to engage the private sector in the expansion of renewable energy and energy access.
April 2013: Caring for Climate is calling for inputs on a study on corporate engagement on climate change policy that it is conducting in partnership with the World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The project seeks to help companies to evaluate, improve and demonstrate responsible influence on climate change policy, as well as to develop guidance material on the topic.
18 April 2013: The Government of Sweden announced it will provide US$6.7 million over four years to help reduce West Africa's vulnerability to climate change and increase the region's capacity to pursue its climate change adaptation programmes.
17 April 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat launched a portal, titled "Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) insights," which features analysis and data on the CDM, such as graphics and related downloadable data for project activities and Programme of Activities (PoAs) under validation, registration, as well as intelligence about the CDM on a monthly basis.
