Whether Sir Francis Bacon or Thomas Hobbes (or someone else entirely) said it first, the fact that it still holds true today – in this epoch of big data and nigh-on endless information – is illuminating. For it is not information alone that is pivotal in the course of human events, but how that information is taken up, understood, and acted upon; how that information is turned into knowledge and from knowledge to action.

September 2015 Climate2 October 2015: During the month of September, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) reported on new funding, and project news and other climate finance-related developments. Multilateral development banks, climate funds, and others released studies, briefs and reports, including on carbon pricing and climate resilience, and reported on events on climate finance readiness and disaster risk financing.

UNISDR Initiative to Increase Private Sector Engagement in DRR [viewed]

SPREP, Coral Triangle Initiative-CFF Cooperate on Marine Conservation [viewed]

sprep-cticff22 September 2015: The Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) at the 26th Annual SPREP Meeting, which is convening in Apia, Samoa. The CTI-CFF and SPREP will collaborate on a regional community-based turtle conservation project.

Four Arctic Council Working Groups Address Cross-Cutting Issues at "Historic" Joint Meetings [viewed]

Arctic Council18 September 2015: Four of the six Arctic Council Working Groups met in parallel from 14-18 September 2015, in Tromsø, Norway. According to the Arctic Council Secretariat, the meeting was unprecedented, allowing the four Working Groups to meet in a joint session mid-week to discuss cross-cutting issues. Arctic State and indigenous Permanent Participant organization delegates to the Arctic Contaminants Action Program (ACAP), Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP), Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) and Protection of the Arctic Marine Environment (PAME) Working Groups were joined by accredited intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and non-Arctic State observers for the meetings.
