5 May 2009: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology (FONTAGRO) have announced that they will fund three projects on adapting regional productive systems to climate change.
5 May 2009: The Global Environment Facility's (GEF) Small Grants Programme was launched in Zambia on 24 April 2009, at one of the projects that benefited from the funding.
1 May 2009: “On the Frontlines of Climate Change,” an Internet forum launched by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in partnership with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Secretariat of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), has issued a call for project proposals. Funding, provided with the assistance of Denmark, will be dedicated to community-level projects showcasing local experiences with climate impacts and adaptation.

29 April 2009: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) held a training workshop on environmental negotiations and climate change diplomacy in New York, US, from 29-30 April 2009. The workshop was organized as part of UNITAR's 2009 Negotiation Training Series, and was targeted mainly at delegates from developing countries, least developed countries and small island States (SIDS).
27 April 2009: The European Patent Office (EPO), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) have announced that they will undertake a joint project to examine the role of patents in the development and transfer of environmentally sound technologies (ESTs), in particular in the field of energy generation.
29 April 2009: While in Brussels, Belgium, on 23 April 2009, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched a worldwide climate change campaign under the slogan “Seal the Deal!”
24 April 2009: Speaking at the Tsunami Lessons Learned event, which took place in New York, US, on 24 April 2009, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed the importance of sharing lessons learned from disaster responses.
20 April 2009: The International Training Centre (ITC) of the International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched a six week open course on Green Jobs, focusing on the socioeconomic impacts of climate change with particular attention to the world of work, in terms adaptation and mitigation, and on how to manage the transition to a low-carbon economy.
22 April 2009: The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has released the fourth issue of its FoodClimate newsletter, which contains interviews, updates and notes on upcoming events on climate change relating to agriculture, fisheries and forestry. The feature story, an interview with members of a livelihood adaptation to climate change project in Bangladesh, focuses on technology transfer, actor involvement and other prerequisites for and obstacles to community adaptation.
